Reader's Workshop is my favorite way to engage students in ELA! These playlists allow your students to connect with books and enjoy reading more each and every day of the month!

Student choice is becoming an important structure in any ELA lesson plan. This monthly playlist will allow you to release some control back to your students!

✎The October Edition builds off August and encourages your students to:

  • Reflect on current reads
  • Figurative Language and Setting
  • Writing summaries and review of books

Students complete a "Must Do" section with connections to any technology program your school or district subscribes to and also ties their learning back to their independent reading books. They can then choose from a variety of different options to complete the playlist by earning points.

I use this product for an entire month and the students work through their playlists at their own pace. One of my ELA stations is "playlist" where students are working on their choices.

I am a firm believer in the suggestions in Donalynn Miller's The Book Whisperer this playlist takes her ideas into account. Ample time devoted to independent reading is vital and this playlist ensures that all students are connecting with their books while still having freedom to choose work that speaks to them.
