When running a Reader's and Writer's Workshop, or any small group schedule, one of the hardest parts is keeping everything organized. This year I decided to turn my white board into a small group calendar of sorts. It was the best decision I ever made. First, it keeps me organized. My having two name tags (with a magnet on the back) for every student , I am able to ensure that all students are being met with twice a week simply by arranging the name tags. Additionally, having the schedule posted where students can see prepares them for the "meetings" they will have with you that week. Overall, this is one part of my classroom that I could not live without.
Included with this product are two files: an editable and a PDF version. If you are going to use the editable version of the file you will need to make sure you have KG font "Behind These Hazel Eyes", which you can download for free. Or you also have the choice of changing the font to match with your needs. I have also provided blank name cards and typed ones, so you can choose whether you would rather write or type the names.
In my own classroom I choose to organize the names by colors which coincide with their guided reading levels. You can use the colors as best fits your needs.
