The following stories are for books in levels D and E (DRA Levels 4-8). These types of readers are not at the level of reading on their own and are still working on fluency.
These lessons have full instructions for the teacher and are designed to be used in small group with a teacher, an aid, parent or helper. They can also be used as a whole group lesson.
Each one is designed in a similar way. It involves the group reading together, on their own and only the teacher reading. It has the students looking for patterns, discussing vocabulary, writing, comprehension, recall, predicting, inferences and making personal connections. There are various worksheets included that can be used as an option. These can also be used with any story the students read.
These lessons are designed to take more than one session and will help the readers reach beyond where they are accustomed to reading.
The following book titles have activities for them:
Tootsie Can Talk (Level D)
Frog is Hungry (Level D)
Pillowfort Password (Level D)
