This is a card to keep track of AR points for each quarter, and a contract for the kids and teacher to sign. We try to help the kids stay excited and engaged in keeping their AR percentage at least 85% and higher, and also getting a certain number of points each nineweeks. We keep their reading range (zone) on their card as well as setting their goal for points each nineweeks and what they actually achieve. 85% is their goal for percentage correct, however we encourage them to do even better, and they usually do. Stickers can also be added to the cards as they achieve their goal. The size of the cards allows them to fit perfectly in a pocket caddy for calculators. I have it hanging on a door to give the kids and me easy access. I have also let them keep them in a pocket in their computer lab folder in the past. There is also a contract form included. When I started this, the kids amazed me at how much they wanted to sign their contract and let me know about their progress in reading their book. They are also very eager to get another book and sign a new contract when the previous one is finished. It has been a way to get certain kids more interested in reading and finishing their books, as well as being more careful when they test – knowing their grade is going on their contract. Hope this is helpful.
