Product Description
Why use reading accountability logs?
You can use reading accountability logs to hold your students accountable for independent reading. When students return a book to the book return bin, they must complete an accountability log first and place the log inside the book. This is an excellent tool for tracking students’ reading progress.

Informing Instruction —These reading logs can be used to help you identify which students you need to confer with or pull for strategy lessons on summarizing or determining importance. If you use the Developmental Reading Assessment, these are two skills that students commonly struggle with in the beginning of the year. Giving readers the opportunity to practice these skills with just-right independent reading books is an excellent way to help them develop their skills.

What's Included:
Fiction Accountability Log—This log asks students to identify the main character, setting, and write a short summary including the important events from the beginning, middle, and end. Then, students are asked to identify the most important event and provide support for their opinion.
Nonfiction Accountability Log—This log asks students to identify the topic and summarize five important events from the text. Then, students are asked to identify the most important fact they learned in the text and provide support for their opinion.
Abandoned Book Log—Students complete an abandoned book log when they do not finish a book and decide to return it. This is an easy tool to determine who may need assistance selecting just-right books.
