This is a fantastic resource for this year's Book Week theme 'Reading Across the Universe.'
It can be used by the classroom teacher for Book Week or kept in your sub folder for relief teachers / substitute teachers to use throughout the year. It's most suitable for years 2-5.
The contents include:
Rocket Book Report
-Students can fill out and decorate the book report that is in the shape of a rocket.
Super Star Book Recommendations
-Print & cut out for students to write book recommendations for their peers.
Dress Up Day Recount
-Three different outlines for students to write about dressing up as book characters.
Non-Fiction Word Search
- Look through examples of non-fiction books. Make a list of common features and then students can complete the word search. Answer guide included.
- Crossword of common fiction terms. Answer guide included.
Reading Across the Universe Postcard
- Students imagine that they travel to a fictional book setting. They design and fill out a postcard for this setting. There are two postcard outlines for students to choose from; one with lines, one without.
Activity – Solar System Detectives
- This is a fun group activity. Twelve book characters have been scattered across the Solar System. Students need to use their inference skills to work out which characters are hidden amongst the planets, moon and satellites.
