I use these fun "reading buddy badges" for my students who need extra help in reading. I call them badges because my students walk around with them and show them off to adults when questioned about them. You can use them to make buttons, signs, or necklaces like I use them. I printed these, cut them out, laminated them, and made necklaces using a hole puncher and yarn. I pair a lower reader with a higher reader, give them their necklaces, and send them on their way to read aloud to each other, practice reading comprehension work, etc. Not only do my students love wearing their necklaces, but administrators love it because it gives the students a sense of responsibility and metacognitive awareness.
