We’ve Got an App for that! The Bulletin Board with an App feel! This bulletin board will introduce or reintroduce genres in a whole new way! And all in SPANISH!

****This is also available in English

This bulletin board will be sure to be a hit with icons that are modeled after phone apps! What kid can’t relate? These icons measure 3 in x 3 inches. All you need to do is get white and black butcher paper and cut a rounded white rectangle and a black rectangle and poof! It’s an iPhone or Smartphone! Make as many “phones” as you want and add the “apps” you want. You can display this during Reading Week, Back to School, on a hallway bulletin board or any time of the year to motivate kids to read! You can also use these icons and create a tally chart to survey the class about their favorite genre. Possibilities are endless!

Also included is “Our Favorite Genres” sheet which is a great way to get to know your kids and build your classroom library to accommodate your kids' interests. Included in this product are directions to turn the chart into a poster if you don't have a poster maker in your building. There is also a black-line graph "Tracking the Genres" that can be put into file folders for each student to add to as they are independently reading. I would keep them in a portfolio as data and then give them back at the end of the year to have kids analyze to see if there was a change and if not, why? Or let them set goals and give them a new graph monthly.

The icons here can be printed and easily be added to a paper "phone". Taking white bulletin board paper and cutting it into a rounded rectangle and then cutting a black rectangle for the "screen", you simulate a phone. You could display the icons that resonate most with your kids in terms of what genres are their favorite. This bulletin board can be displayed all year but you can survey the kids at different points in the year to see if their tastes change over time.

There are also six blank labels so you can add your own graphic and font. I used Hello Miss THANG; size 24. You can add your own graphics since copyright prohibits me from adding in book covers from Google images, but you can!
