Reading Center Ideas gives the teacher handouts for students to use to document their center work while the teacher is leading a small reading group.
Forms included are:
Reader's Response---students choose two activities to complete based on a book they have read. Activities include a summary flip-flap book, story map, character bubble map, and writing/drawing about their favorite part of the book. There are two copies of the form on a page. Cut apart for student use.
Classroom Library---students complete all three activities to practice reading with confidence and fluency. Activities to complete include reading to oneself, reading with a puppet, and reading the book to two friends. There are two copies on a page. Cut apart for student use.
Story Map---a template to use along with Reader's Response. There are two forms on a page to cut apart and save copies.
Character Map---a template to use along with Reader's Response. Students choose one character from their book to describe.
Summary Flip-Flap Book---a template to use along with Reader's Response. Students tell what happened in their book first, next, then, and last. The paper is cut in between the typed words on the line to flap over student responses. The entire paper is folded vertically.
