During Daily 5 time, my students love listening to reading. Sometimes they listen to stories off of the computer, on the i-pad, stories on MP3 players, or books on CD's. Either which way, they are listening to fluent readers, reading sight words, and become a better reader. After they listen to a story, I want them to be accountable for showing what they learned. These worksheets can also be used as a means of assessment. This 15 page bundle includes multiple forms (many of which hit Common Core first grade standards) for students to show their understanding of the book they read. The pack includes:
-3 pages of different general response forms (include student reflection, favorite part, drawing and writing space)
-5 pages of fiction response forms (cover topics such as main idea, setting, characters, connections, narrator, beginning, middle, and end, and more!)
-5 pages of non-fiction response forms (cover topics such as main idea, facts, what students learned, connections, text features, and more!)
Teacher tip: I like to use things in my room that don't require batteries. I've found MP3 player work great for listening to reading and don't need to be charged more than once a week. Don't forget- there are many websites where students can listen to stories on-line for free. Check out YouTube or TeacherTube for many, many stories that you students can have easy access to!
