Do your upper elementary kids love to play MASH? Mine do! I created this MASH game so they could still play, but they were able to practice using skills in the classroom as well.
This MASH game asks students to complete the board by adding: 8 possible characters, 4 possible settings, and 4 possible points of conflict. Two set categories in this MASH game are # of Sentences and the acronym MASH, standing for METAPHOR, ALLITERATION, SIMILE, and HYPERBOLE.
After completing the MASH game, students write a short story that include the elements in each category from their game.
This is a PDF file that contains one worksheet and one sample sheet. *It helps if you have previous experience playing MASH, although I did include directions. And, if you know your kids like to play, I'm sure they can review the logistics of it with you before you use it with your class.
