This set of task cards features six different scenarios involving categorical data.
Data are presented in frequency tables, relative frequency tables (percentages), pie charts, and bar charts. Students answer questions by referring to the presented data.
Questions are ordered in three tiers of complexity. In the first tier, the questions can be answered by inspection without any computation (see the thumbnail image for Card 6). Questions in the second tier require simple computation, such as calculating how many more items are in one category than in another or computing the sample size (see the thumbnail image for Card 15). Questions in the third tier are the most complex and require an understanding of the relationship between frequency, relative frequency, and sample size (see the thumbnail image for Card 32).
NOTE: All questions are based on **categorical** data. Histograms, frequency polygons, box-and-whiskers, and dot plots **are not presented**.
The file includes both a recording sheet and an answer key.
