Reading Charts and Activities - Summer
This is a fun set of Reading Charts and Reading Activities that can be used through the summer and all year round. Summer reading helps prevent summer slide, and these activities make it so fun, that kids want to do it.
The themes in these reading charts and activities for summer include sunshine, the beach, crabs, fireflies, ice cream, and more. Many of the pages include pictures the kids can color.
This set includes a variety of fun incentives, activities and logs to support summer reading.
1. READING BINGO - Color each square as you complete a reading
activity. Go for 5 in a row to get Bingo. Bonus points if you get a
blackout. (3 Unique Bingo Cards Included)
2. ROLL AND READ - What fun way are you going to read today? Roll
a dice to find out. Color each box as you complete it. Keep rolling
until all of the activities are complete. (3 unique Roll & Read Cards.)
3. LIBRARY SCAVENGER HUNT - Explore your library, and try reading
something new. Take a savenger hunt card, and find books to match
each item on the list. Take them home and read them that week. (10 Unique Scavenger Hunts included - 1/2 page each)
4. SUMMER READING CHARTS - Color a picture for each day you
read. Can you get every day in the month? (3 Charts)
5. BOOK BUCKS - Get a buck for each qualifying book you read. Save
up and redeem your bucks for prizes or a new book of your choice.
(One sheet in color and one sheet in black and white)
6. ICE CREAM CONE READING CHART - Cut out and laminate the ice
cream cone page and each individual ice cream scoop. Every time
you complete a book, write the title on a scoop using a dry erase
marker. Then stack it on your cone using velcro. When you reach
your goal number of scoops, go out for ice cream with a parent.
Then start again. If you need more than 6 scoops, print additional
copies of that page. (Reward can be adjusted as needed.)
I hope these are helpful in you classroom. Let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to help.
