“Black History Time Capsules” are designed to be used as supplemental materials alongside the Social Studies curriculum. These packets include primary sources, biographies, historical facts, quotes, and pictures to bring Black history to life.

Activities include critical thinking questions and written responses to develop close reading skills (prediction, text analysis, inference, cause/effect). “Stop & Think” questions are woven throughout the packets to encourage deep thinking and conversations between students as they interact with the texts.
At the end of each packet, there is a summative assessment with five text-based comprehension questions. Included with every packet is a “Teacher Resource Guide” that includes information about books, websites, and videos that can be used to enhance the information presented in the packets.
