~*Reading Comprehension Fiction
Read, Locate, Highlight and Draw
You will find 34 different reading comprehension activities in this pack.
I used this pack to get my students used to reading and locating the answers to questions by re-reading. Having my students highlight their answers has really increased their comprehension.
I start with short vowels. Then, I have students complete digraphs, then blends. They highlight the answers. Then they draw a picture that matches what they read.
Once students are able to independently complete the locate, highlight and draw sheets, I have students then move on to just answering questions, by using words in a word box. This gets them used to using part of the question in their answer to make a complete sentence.
They take a crayon and color 1 red, 2 orange, 3 yellow, and so on to number 6. I then have them locate the correct word and highlight it that color.
Once they have this mastered, I make the word box a paragraph to gradually release them into independence. I have them practice using complete sentences rather than just highlighting. They practice using part of the question in their answer. If they finish early, they can draw a picture.
