Are you looking for hands on comprehension activities for teaching main idea and details? If so, then this pack is for you! Throughout the activities in this pack your students will become surgeons, chefs, and meteorologist. This pack includes 7 hands on activities and 4 read aloud craftivities. Here's a look at what is included.


-I’m Puzzled : students will have to find the correct puzzle pieces (details) and identifying the main idea once their puzzle is complete

-On the Move : students will match detail picture cards to the correct main idea

-Cooking Up Main Idea : students will become chefs by reading a recipe card that includes details and main idea. They will have to identify the details and main ideas by cooking up a delicious pizza!

-Broken Main Idea : students will become surgeons by reading a patient's file and deciding what the correct main idea is

-Flooded with Details: students will forecast the weather by finding details that support the main idea

-Spin It! : students will spin a spinner card and identifying the main idea from details that they spin

-What’s the Scoop: students will have to find and match details and identify the main idea
