This Task Card “Task Box Filler” focuses on using pictures to help “see” what will happen. With a fortune cookie predication, your students will enjoy this high-interest reading activity! Our kids with autism thrive with the use of visuals, and this skill is no exception. Students can clearly see the picture that the fortune cookie predicts, out of a field of three possible choices.

This activity is the perfect independent work task center, or can be used for individual instruction to gather data for IEP goals.

SUGGESTED IEP GOALS:

Given a sentence which states an event that will occur in the future, STUDENT will read the sentence and select the correct picture response which identifies the event, by marking, pointing, or clipping the correct picture out of a field of three pictures, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

Given a sentence which states an event that will occur in the future, STUDENT will read the sentence (with support/independently) in order to choose the picture which identifies the event, and provide a verbal explanation in complete sentence form as to why he/she selected the response (by describing similarities/differences), with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
