Do you value independent reading? Are you sick of your students faking their reading and reading logs?
I created this packet of 30 reading comprehension questions for my students to complete after they complete their independent reading for the day. The questions force students to dig deep into their book and reflect on what they are reading. These questions will work with any genre of fiction.
In my 7th grade ELA classroom I assign these questions at the start of our semester term. They are required to complete five prompts a week and then create a book report "project" to go along with their responses. I check them weekly for completion and then grade them once the packet and project are turned in at the end of the term. I no longer require reading logs or parent signatures because my students simply can't fake these. Yay! I hope this helps in your classroom as well.
(If you would prefer this as a Word document so you can edit it I am more than happy to email it to you. However because of the frames and fonts it works better as a PDF.)
