Accountable talk never looked better than when discussing this short passage with questions for students to ponder. Provided is a short story with fifteen statements aimed to start strong discussion within the class. Students must decide if the statements are true, false, or if they can't tell. How much can one assume from a vaguely written passage? It's fun to find out.
With critical reading, there is no absolute right or wrong answer. Answers depend upon how one interprets the questions and what evidence from the passage is found to support their thinking. Hopefully, this questionnaire will lead to strong discussion with kids debating the answers.
