Working on finding text evidence in reading? Want students to refer to reading and FIND the answers in text? These 9 nonfiction passages about woodland animals teach students to refer to and cite the text evidence to prove their answers. No-Prep!

A bonus passage about the Appalachian Trail is included!

Note: "Bubbles" rather than crayons are used to indicate which color to underline or highlight in. This is perfect for older, struggling readers to feel more mature and comfortable using these pages.

Choose the colored versions or the ink-saving black and white versions.

How to use: Students read the passage at least one time before beginning the questions. Each question has a colored bubble in front of it (the black and white versions have a bubble with a color word written inside). Students will look back in the reading, locate the answer, and underline it using the color designated by the bubble. That is how they show text evidence prove their answers.

This set includes:

→ 9 Non-fiction text passages

→ Summary page that can be used as an exit ticket or a Quick Quiz.

→ Venn diagram for comparing and contrasting

→ Are/Have/Can Fact Summary page - students organize and write thoughts about what the animals are, what characteristics they have, and what they can do.

→ Fact and opinion worksheet for students to write their own facts and opinions

This Text Evidence Pack can even be used to assess your students' ability to prove their answers in the text or as a relevant and engaging test prep activity!

This Text Evidence Packet is aligned to CCSS R.I. 2.1, R.I. 3.1, and R.I 4.1
