What educators are saying

I started out using these in small groups and gradually moved toward using them for independent work while I worked with small groups.
My students loved this and it is a great way to help them write complete sentences and learn R.A.C.E writing!

    Description

Students become experts at citing text evidence with these 17 comprehension passages about primates and woodland animals. Students read the selections, identify answers in the text by highlighting or underlining the answers in the text passage, and then compose written answers to text-based questions.

    You receive:

    • Nonfiction primates passages (printable and digital). Primates include marmosets, capuchin monkeys, proboscis monkeys, tarsiers, golden snub-nosed monkeys, and orangutans.
    • Nonfiction woodland animals passages (printable and digital). Woodland animals include black bears, armadillos, bobcats, coyotes, great horned owls, beavers, striped skunks, moose, and a bonus passage about the Appalachian Trail.

    WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THESE PASSAGES?

Mature-looking text passages and questions. "Bubbles" rather than crayons are used to indicate which color to underline or highlight. This is ideal for older, struggling readers.

    1. Students read the passage at least one time before beginning the questions. Students look back at the reading.
    2. Students underline or highlight answers in the text using the designated colors.

    • 1 Nonfiction text passage about the Appalachian Trail

    • Fact and opinion worksheet for students to write their own facts and opinions
    • Answer keys

How to use the DIGITAL sets:
