Are you looking for a reading comprehension passage that teaches students science content about the Winter Solstice, and includes three Lexile levels for easy differentiation, Task Cards, reading comprehension and vocabulary practice? This bundle includes a 2-page text written at three different Lexile Levels for easy differentiation. It also includes Task Cards focusing on prefixes, text dependent questions, and additional comprehension and vocabulary activities. It has everything you need for more than a week of instruction!
This article discusses the science behind the Winter Solstice and also the traditions that have been celebrated for centuries in Europe and North America, including traditions of the ancient Britons at Stonehenge, the Romans, the Cree people in North America and medieval Europeans. You get the same article at three different levels, allowing for flexibility and easy differentiation. There are also vocabulary and comprehension activities, including an Integrating Information activity that extends students' understanding of the science behind the tradition. This resource gives you over 5 days of instructional activities!
This resource also includes 40 Task Cards in both color and ink-saving black-and-white. Your students will get plenty of prefix practice while learning about this important phenomenon. Each Task Card features a short passage that gives content information and context for learning about prefixes. The questions are multiple choice and students will record their answers on the included Recording Sheet. And of course, there is an answer sheet for you!
