Reading Comprehension Set 3: Long Vowels. This set includes 45 reading comprehension passages. Each passage focuses on a specific long vowel word family. This set is just right for first graders, as well as second graders who could use some extra practice.
The following long vowel word families are addressed: ace, ade,
age, ail, ain, ake, ale, ame, ape, ase, ate, ave, ay, each, eak, eal, eam, ean, eat, ee, eed, eel, een, eep, eet, ice, ide, ight, ile, ime, ind, ine, ite, ive, oat, oke, old, ole, one, ope, ose, ove /ōv/, ow /ō/, own, and y /ī/.
Each reading passage focuses on long vowels and sight words. Repetitive text is included whenever possible. Four comprehension questions follow each passage. One question on each page requires a simple written response, usually one word.
