This is a money saving bundle of my Reading Comprehension Stories {Silent e Edition} AND my Pocket Chart Stories and Picture Matching {Silent e Edition}.

Both of these activities were designed to help students build fluency and become more confident readers, in an engaging, and hands-on way.

These activities will help you teach and reinforce the following important reading and language skills:

    ✅Print Concepts

    ✅Phonological Awareness

    ✅Phonics and Word Recognition

    ✅Sight words

    ✅Conventions of Standard English

    Here is the full product description of my Reading Comprehension Stories {Silent e Edition}

These 40 reading comprehension stories were designed to maximize learning. Each sheet highlights a different long vowel (silent e) and contains a short story that uses three or more words with the same long vowel.

To complete, students read the story and highlight the long vowel words. Then, they answer three comprehension questions about the story. A picture that matches the story is included to help students visualize the story. Last, they practice writing three silent e words from the page.

Students will use the basic elements of phonetic analysis to decode any unknown words. They will also use the title of the story and meaning clues in the story to help them make predictions in order to answer the questions.

Each activity sheet comes in two different versions, so you can easily differentiate learning in your classroom. The first version has multiple choice questions. In the second version, students write in the answers.

Students will really benefit from reading the sentences and analyzing the pictures and then using the content in the sentences and the pictures to answer the questions. This will give them tons of practice with “finding the evidence” in the text.

    Here is what’s included…

    ✅8 Long a stories

    ✅7 Long i stories

    ✅7 Long o stories

    ✅5 Long u stories

✅13 stories with a mix of all long vowels

These reading comprehension stories are perfect for:

    ⭐whole group

    ⭐small groups

    ⭐morning work

    ⭐center work

These stories were created with kindergartners and first graders in mind. However, they can also be used for students in other grades who need a little more practice with these skills.

Here is the full product description of my Pocket Chart Stories and Picture Matching

These 40 short stories were designed to help students build fluency and become more confident readers, in an engaging, hands-on way. Each story is made up of words with long vowels (silent e) and grade level sight words and vocabulary.

The stories all come with a matching picture. Students read the stories and choose the picture that goes with it. The story cards have a blank space at the end, for students to place the picture.

The stories are fun to read and students will enjoy finding the matching pictures. You can choose to put out stories that focus on just one long vowel, or stories that focus on a mix of several long vowels. You can put out a few stories to match, or all of them at the same time, for a more challenging activity.

There is an optional recording sheet included, where students can write one of the stories and illustrate it. This is GREAT handwriting practice! Students can use the matching pictures to help them draw their own pictures.

To prepare, just print, laminate, and cut out the story cards and pictures. Put them at a station, along with a pocket chart. Cards can also be matched on a table or the floor.
