These comprehension graphic organizers are great for literacy centers, literature circles, guided reading groups and/or independent practice. They can be used with any text; independent reading books, small group readers, basil weekly stories, science and social studies passages, etc.
In my classroom I use graphic organizers to introduce or review comprehension skills. I believe it is beneficial to students to have a visual representation to record information in an organized manner. As important as that is, I feel it is even more important for students to be able to take the information from an organizer and form it into meaningful responses. Included with these graphic organizers are short response sheets for students to write paragraphs that connect to what they wrote in the organizer. This ensures they are forming responses that include text evidence to support their ideas.
I have included the following skills:
-Author's Point of View
-Cause and Effect
-Compare and Contrast- Characters
-Compare and Contrast-Setting
-Main Idea and Details
