Use these guides to encourage and scaffold student research about reading comprehension strategies. This use is especially useful at the postsecondary level for pre-service educators.
Display the first page of this packet on an overhead projector, Elmo, SmartBoard, or enlarge it to poster size. This can be used as a teaching display and anchor chart when teaching reading comprehension strategies.
The other pages of this packet allow you to choose the most appropriate note taking sheet for each student in your class. Choose based on a ability, experience, and needs.
The first page of this document can also be cut apart and used as a sorting activity at a literacy station or in small groups. If documentation of this sort is needed, students can glue/tape it onto the blank note taking sheet or a photograph of the sort could be taken.
The first page of this document could be copied onto cardstock, laminated, and hook-and-loop tape could be place on the back. On another blank sheet of laminated cardstock, the matching hook and loop tape could be placed. Then, the cards could be used at a literacy center on a more permanent basis. This could additionally be done with magnets and magnetic surface.
*Usage Guide is included.
