Looking for a fun way to develop comprehension skills using both drawing and writing?
Have your students make a picture strip!
You can take any story and have your students retell it in pictures and words. This format makes it easy for children to draw and write at their own skill level. It can be used for both fiction and nonfiction stories. This activity can be used to work on sequencing, summarizing, recalling facts, and identifying main parts of a story (characters, setting, plot).
It is also a great tool, allowing children to share their work with a partner at school or with someone at home.
