Product Description
This Reading Comprehension Lesson, ""The Incredible Annie Oakley Meets Buffalo Bill," relates the occasion of Annie Oakley meeting Buffalo Bill. After a high-spirited, feisty exchange, Annie signed up to star in his Wild West Show. I used dialog between the two main characters to make their exchange more interesting. I also emphasized what the two historic people were like. After two pages of informational test, there are twelve multiple choice questions and a bonus question. Reading comprehension skills tested are: Main Ideas, Details, Author’s Purpose, Character Traits, and Vocabulary. At the top of the first page is a Vocabulary Word Bank. Two of the twelve test questions are based on the vocabulary presented in the bank. You also might want your students to study all the words in the Vocabulary Bank to test them later on the meanings. The bonus question is based on students finding something in the drawing that I provided at the bottom of the second page. There is also a public domain photograph for both Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill. I did not include pictures of any guns in this lesson, nor did I mention the word gun in it. Although Annie Oakley was a sharpshooter, I kept the focus on her skills of timing, accurate hand-to-eye control, her devotion to practice, and her engaging personality. The fifth page is the answer key. (On the TPT- generated thumbnail images things look like they are not lined up correctly. Such is not the case! The box with ANNIE OAKLEY 1860-1926 is directly under her photo. Also, I have not split the multiple choices from one page to another. Also he answer key will start on the 5th page not the 4th.)
