Have you noticed that many students do not know what to do when meaning breaks down during reading? As a reading specialist, I notice that many of my students know when reading doesn't make sense but don't know how to fix it.
This bookmark is used to remind students of strategies to use when meaning is lost.
After minilessons, explicit modeling and think alouds of each of these strategies, students began to independently employ them using the bookmark as a prompt. I began to observe my students independently using these strategies and effectively verbalize how they solved the "tricky parts" during reading. Terrific for encouraging metacognition!
