The year I turned eleven I was finally old enough to go on the one family trip I had always wanted to attend. Prior to my eleventh birthday I had been too young to go white water rafting with my family that had a traditional trip each summer. The age limit was set by the rafting company, but I was finally old enough to participate in the weekend long trip that started early Friday morning and ended with everyone packing up on Sunday night. The trip included my whole family, including cousins, aunts, uncles and anyone else who wanted to tag along. The trip had been happening for almost twenty years and was still a well loved tradition on the first weekend that the rapids were open to rafters. The week before the trip is when most of the preparations had to take place. Each step was important in order to make the trip enjoyable.
