This one page worksheet entitled “Two Characters” promotes the use of reading comprehension and thinking skills. Those skills are 1) Identifying Character Traits, 2) Comparing and Contrasting and 3) Making Generalizations. It lends itself well to either individual work or to cooperative learning.
Students are given a small snapshot of text about a race car driver and his mechanic. It is filled with action and dialogue that conveys their differences. They must choose from among character traits to describe them. Then they must write out two generalizations judging whether or not they would want to work with each. You also get a nice drawing of the race car driver and the mechanic with their race car. The second page is the answer key.
