This cute Sports Reading Comprehension Activity is titled “Unlikely All-Stars." It starts with Nina, a baseball coach talking to her brother about her team’s weaknesses. When Nina lists the weaknesses of each player, her brother doubts that her team will win the next game. True to form, every player who has a weakness goofs up in the baseball game. Given the game mistakes, your students match the names of the players who had the weaknesses that would cause each specific mistake. Students then write the names of the players on the blank lines. The worksheet comes with a little drawing of a baseball bat, baseball, and glove. The 2nd page is the answer key.
Besides having to decode the little story, your students will be matching causes to effects and making predictions. Additionally, students will have to follow directions, problem-solve, and think critically.
