Description

Give students practice answering open-ended questions by writing in complete sentences while restating the question with these reading comprehension passages. Students read short texts and practice using text evidence to write in complete sentences while restating the question (PQA- Put the Question in the Answer) to answer constructed response questions. This restate the question practice is the perfect building block for primary grades students to writing full constructed responses in later years.

Pages 1 and 2 are available for free in the preview for you to try out with your students.

This is also a great reading comprehension resource for ESL/ELL/ELD students as they practice using correct syntax in their responses. It's the perfect companion to your current reading comprehension work.

While this is written at a second grade level, this is also great practice for 3rd graders who need reinforcement in writing in complete sentences and referring back to the text for text evidence. The simple format of the text puts the focus on the written response practice.
