20 inference-based reading comprehensions all in PowerPoint, worksheet and task card format.
(An example PowerPoint and worksheet are available in the thumbnail images and a selection of the task cards can be see in the preview file.)
No prep - just print or show!
Each of the twenty activities include a short extract - from a variety of texts - and five inference and deduction based questions. These shorter, manageably sized extracts are designed to help all students develop their deeper thinking when it comes to reading comprehensions. The questions still need thought and understanding, so your less able students can still develop the skill to infer without facing an unnecessarily long and daunting passage.
As teachers it’s sometimes difficult to find quite what you’re looking for. In order to make this resource as flexible and helpful as possible, each activity is included in three different formats: The PowerPoint is great for whole class work, whilst the task cards and worksheets clearly lend themselves more to group and individual work (a combination of resources works well too).
Also included in this pack is a poster I designed to use with my class to help them structure their responses - it really helped focus their answers!
If you like this resource, please follow my store as I’m currently working on a second set of these activities which I hope to launch soon.
