Have you been wanting to have a way to efficiently record the observations and progress over time as you conference and meet with your readers?
This mini-book is both a way to record observations you make (modified running record in the middle section), but also is a reference guide for Meaning/Semantic, Structure/Syntactic and Visual miscues to guide you in your instruction. On the inside and outside of the back cover is a reading continuum resource with tips on what questions to ask students to move them forward in their reading development.
These came in so handy over the course of the year because as I used them I could easily refer back to see what books the children were reading, where they were successful and where they needed more coaching. The reading specialist worked out of the same book so we really were able to work effectively and collaborative in targeting specific needs of our struggling learners.
These are designed to be printed landscape and back to back. Directions for constructing them are included in the download.
This naturally aligns with the Common Core and is applicable to any grade where you are conferencing and conducting small group instruction.
Note: The difference between this and the K-1 and the K-2 is that that section to record quarterly running record benchmarks as well as the tracking for early literacy skills (letter id, letter sound, rhyming, blending, etc.) has been removed. In their place there is more guided reading instructional tips. Preview for each product is posted so you can compare for yourself.
