A tool to help students make text to text, text to self, and text to world connections.
The first page is a bookmark style format (half page) for students to use when working alone or in small group. There are guiding questions as reminders of what each connection looks like.
Under the reminder are a few sentence starters to help students engage in conversation if working in pairs or groups.
The second page can be used as a recording device. Each connection area has a place for students to record what the text said and what it reminded them of.
Bookmarks can be printed front to back or individually.
Example of Text to Text:
What does this remind me of in my life?
What is this similar to in my life?
What were my feelings when I read this?
How is this different from my life?
Has something like this ever happened to me?
How does this relate to my life?
What I just read reminds me of the time when I….
I don't agree with what I just read because in my own life...
I agree with/understand what I just read because in my own life...
