I use the Reading Data and Goals all year long to track goals and monthly cold read data. Before the school year begins, I copy the entire packet and place it into a reading folder with brads. Each month, students write their reading goals for the month. At the end of the month, they take their monthly cold read test, and mark their monthly cold read score on the bar graph. They will then look back at the goals that they previously set for themselves, and decide if they had met their goals. They will then explain their answer in detail. I love this activity because it is student centered. Students are tracking their own data and setting goals for themselves based on their data. My students compete with their own individual score, and strive to accomplish their goals. I hope your students enjoy success in reading as much as mine have!
