The Reading Detectives Unit includes a PowerPoint, vocabulary signs, graphic organizers, a book project template, a checkbric, centers, and other activities centered around the genre of mysteries. (Includes 12 activities below)

1. Mysteries PPT - A PowerPoint to introduce the genre of mysteries to students. (15 slides)
2. Mystery Vocabulary Signs – 9 signs to reinforce mystery vocabulary terms.
3. Mystery Vocabulary Match - A matching game to review mystery vocabulary.
4. Reading Detective Badges - Reading detective badges for students to wear while solving mysteries. (Two versions included. One set is a fillable form.)
5. Case File Cover – A cover to use for a folder or envelope to hold students’ work during a mystery genre study. (PDF fillable form)
6. Mystery Memory Trays – Students look at trays of objects and try to recall all of the objects, or remember objects that are missing. Perfect as an activating strategy or center!
7. Mystery Graphic Organizers – 7 graphic organizers that focus on story elements to use with a mystery study.
8. Infer the Setting Center – Students make inferences as they read clues about various settings in this center activity. (Includes 12 cards, recording page, and answer key.)
9. Mystery Draw & Write Centers – Students finish drawing a mystery scene and write a story about it in this center. (Includes 4 scene-starters.)
10. Mystery Case File Book Project - A book project to use with any mystery book. Students share about their book by creating a case file!
11. Mystery Case File Book Project Checkbric - A checkbric for grading students' mystery case file book projects.
12. Mystery Assessment - A 2-page assessment on the genre of mysteries.
