Reading Facial Expressions and Body Language - BASiCS and Beyond Social Narratives
When we think of communicating with others we usually think of speaking and listening. But we also communicate non-verbally (without words) by the way we posture our body, make gestures with our hands and feet and move the muscles in our face to make different facial expressions. This is information that we use to figure out what other people might be feeling and thinking. However, some of our students with social communication and social emotional learning challenges require direct instruction in these perspective taking skills. Otherwise misunderstandings can lead to a number of negative social consequences, some of which can be serious.
This product uses real life images of people with transparent backgrounds to ensure that students only attend to the essential elements and concepts described.
This product contains:
- 2 Social Narratives (63 pages) that teach:
- Why it is important to pay attention to body language
- How to read facial expressions, body postures and gestures
- Comprehension Response Cards and Worksheet
