Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Since fluency develops gradually over time, fluency in kindergarten looks a little different. Kindergarten fluency begins with the alphabet, moves on to nonsense words, CVC words, sight words, CVCe words, and eventually sentences.
With these fluency mats, students will simply roll a dice and read the line that aligns with that number.
What skills are covered in this resource?
These skills are too simple for my students, do you have any other fluency sets?
Yes, try the first grade fluency mats!
This looks great, but I will need more advanced skills later in the year. Where can I find more fluency sets?
If you have a high-achieving group of students and will be covering first grade skills, the Roll Your Way to Fluency in Kindergarten & 1st Grade bundle is the best option for you.
How should I use these fluency mats?
Print these fluency mats on colored paper and slip them into sheet protectors for a ready to use resource during guided reading, centers, partner work, tutoring, and more!
