This is one lesson plan that asks students to stop and jot their thinking about figurative language, character traits, predictions, importance, and the central message. You need to read the book The Talking Eggs by Robert D San Souci. If you have it, you can use this lesson plan to assess students' ability to demonstrate understanding of the above skills, or to reinforce them after teaching them. I included a picture of the anchor chart that I use so you can make one, and printable for students that need modifications. Students love this story so it is worth having and this is one less lesson plan you need to write. You can, however, modify it as you see fit because it is a word document. I usually break this lesson up into two sessions but you don't have to. It is a long story.
