Product Description
Students report time and time again that traditional summary style book reports are an uninspiring task that does little to instill the joy of reading. Teachers know that getting children to read across genres can often be challenging, especially for reluctant readers from upper grade through high school students.

One simple way to inspire children to read and productively engage with the text is to ask them to do genre reports. Genre reports are simple to manage and fun for students to complete. Just as each book genre has unique features and elements, so do the corresponding genre reports. Each report offers unique activities for students and many offer a menu of preferred choices. Additionally, each “report” can be easily adapted to meet the needs of your learners. All genres included in this book contain posters and student activities.

Contained in this unit are common genres that upper elementary through high school students read for class study and pleasure. Each genre has a colorful corresponding poster and a reproducible activity worksheet for the student.

These materials can be used in reading centers and with reading groups to build literacy circles or assigned as independent practice. Students may work together with the materials or independently.

In this unit you will find over 20 different genre & sub-genre posters and activities. Listed below is a sampling of the genres

Adventure, Autobiography, Biography, Fables, Fantasy, Fairy Tales
Folk Tales, Historical Fiction, Humor, Informational Text , Legends
