This is one of my class's FAVORITE activities to return to as the year goes on, when they're able to share their personal reading goals with the class.
At the beginning of the year I print the "Our Reading Goals" anchor chart in poster size.
I print each of the individual Reading Goals at half-size and laminate them, letting students use vis-a-vie or dry erase markers to keep track of their current reading goal. (They also have personal Reading Notebooks, where they have a section called "Reading Goals" where they also write this down. By the end of the year they can check back in their notebook to see all of the different goals they've had throughout the year!). As students reach their goal they can erase them and update them as needed.
I leave these out at their desks for Open House, when their goal tends to be more broad. During work with Guided Readings Groups, using formative and summative assessments, I sometimes encourage them to focus on a reading strategy we've been discussing for their goal, as well.
