Product Description
Easily and instantly differentiate reading expectations by helping students take ownership of their reading growth! The materials included in this product are designed to help students set and meet personalized weekly reading goals that are challenging and attainable. In this product, you will find materials to help students analyze their current reading practices, develop realistic yet challenging reading goals, and consistently track/reflect upon their progress towards meeting those goals.

Begin by having students use the “Reading Stats” sheet to track their current reading habits for two weeks. Then, have students reflect upon their own reading habits and preferences.

From there, guide students in developing and writing about a personal reading goal that is both challenging and attainable.

After students have finalized their goals, help them track and reflect upon their progress each week.

As students become stronger readers with better reading stamina, have them revise their goals or set entirely new goals. You could re-use the same goal-setting materials at the beginning of each quarter or semester to hold students accountable for challenging themselves throughout the year.

Please note that while this product is designed for middle school students, it could also work with advanced upper-elementary students and on- or below-level 9th grade students.
