Jean Fritz has written many short, biographical books portraying the famous, historical figures of America's colonial time period and during their revolutionary fight for independence. Her writing, although dated, is entertaining for both adults and children! I enjoy using her books in my 4th grade social studies and ELA classes.
This file includes a reading guide (for students) on each of Fritz's five texts listed below. Each guide is 2 pages (back to front), and each involves a range of questions and tasks, such as creating bubble maps, defining vocabulary through context, etc.
Can’t You Make Them Behave, King George?
Where Was Patrick Henry on the 29th of May?
Why Don’t You Get a Horse, Sam Adams?
Will You Sign Here, John Hancock?
And Then What Happened, Paul Revere?
