PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Comprehending informational text is an art. This mega bundle will give your readers the tools necessary to identify both text structure and text features. Combining my Informational Text Structure product with my Nonfiction Informational Text Features product, Informational Text 101 covers every element of informational text in its introduction to your upper elementary and even middle school students.

Nonfiction Informational Text Features 101:
Informational text features are so often overlooked by hurried readers. Seen as unimportant parts of the text, students just skip them. SKIP THEM! It drives me batty! :) I created this lesson to use with my students to reinforce the importance of not only acknowledging but USING informational text features to better understand nonfiction text.

This product includes:

- an introductory slide show that explains informational text features to the students and shows examples of each

- a student poster that can be printed and copied for student reference (I have my students keep their copies in their reading binders)

- a student activity sheet that scaffolds for student practice in identifying informational text features in nonfiction text

- a list of websites that contain informational text elements to be used as printables or digitally with laptops, projectors, tablets, interactive boards, etc

Informational Text Structure - Upper Grades:
Informational text structures seem daunting to many students. What are they? How are they identified? What should readers look for? This slide presentation offers definitions for each of the informational text structures, along with graphic examples. Students will also read short passages at the end of the presentation to practice identifying informational text structure.
