This EDITABLE Hot Air Ballon display is designed to be used as a reward/recognition of achievement for students who make certain nightly/home reading targets OR who read a set amount of books (the choice is yours!)
Included in this .zip filed are:
*A .pdf of the Reading Incentive Hot Air Ballon, with Term 1, Term 2, Term 3 and Term 4 written on 4 of the 5 parts of the balloon (the middle is where students write/design their name)
*A .ppt that is editable with the balloon and clouds, so you can make up your own goals/nights/design etc.
This product is designed to be used in conjunction with my Reading Ladder product, however they two can of course be used seperately!
-Each student recieves their own balloon, which they decorate by writing their name in the middle (blank) space, colouring in the basket etc...however you would like them to!
-As they make a target (I do number of nights read at home) they recieve that "cloud": FOR EXAMPLE: once they read 5 nights at home, they recieve the "5" cloud, colour it in and it is attached to their balloon. When they acheive the next "cloud" they recieve this, colour it in and it is attached to their balloon. This keeps going until the end of the term/Semester/year...however long you'd like to continue it!
- Once they make the Term reading target, they get to colour in that achievement "Term 1" might be to read 25 nights, so once they have completed this, they not only get their 25 night cloud, but they colour in the part of the balloon that says "Term 1".
- This product is designed to do 2 things: 1) to indicate which students are making the termly reading target (the actual balloon) and how many cummulative nights students are reading across the year (the clouds). It's very possible students will get their clouds, but not get to make the term reading target (as they may read 40 nights eventually, but it takes them the whole year, whereas the term targets might increase by 5 each time EG 20, 25, 30, 35).
-I suggest these are displayed somehwere easily accessible to both the students and the teacher, but as they could become quite long (depending on how you choose to attach the clouds) I suggest hanging them by pegs from string/sturdy rope/fishing wire etc that is strung/hung around your room.
