Description

Get your kids reading with this Reading Incentive Program for Grades 3-5...."Ice CREAM.. you SCREAM, we all scream for READING!!"

NOTE: You can start this program as you go back to school or begin it during the school year.

This is a reading incentive program with an ice cream party reward!! I have been using this model in my classroom for several years and it encourages kids to read, holds parents accountable, and I believe it has a direct impact on my students' reading success.

This is a school/home reading calendar program. All directions are included, but the idea is that kids have a year-long folder that they take home and back to school each day. They get a parent signature each night and you check it every morning. It is not difficult at all, despite all we have to do in the morning time as teachers. It takes less than 5 minutes, and I can talk to the kids while I am doing it. Kids LOVE to get their sticker each day on their calendar.

You can read all the details in the packet, but kids will be coloring in a scoop of ice cream at the end of each month, and they will be able to watch their scoops and toppings grow as the months go by.

This packet includes everything you need for a year long bulletin board display too!!

What is included in this purchase?

**Themed bulletin board border (reading/ice cream)to print, laminate, and hang

**2 small posters for your bulletin board

**Adorable cover for the kids' reading packets

**12 ice cream themed reading calendars

**Ice cream cones with scoops that kids color in each month of school, which go on the bulletin board

**Note home explaining the program - "Here's the scoop..."

** 2 award styles (boy/girl) for the reading celebration (Here's the scoop... ___ is a sweet reader!"

**Themed bookmarks to start the program off.

**Note home to parents to send in a topping for the celebration.

**Directions from me on how I use it in the classroom

If your students are like mine, they will love their reading calendars, they will be proud of them, and they will look forward to the end of the year celebration.
