Chevron tag with blank space to write student’s name

Coordinating monthly reading calendars for September 2016-May 2017

How to use this resource:
Each month the students have to read 500 minutes. They write down the number of minutes read on the corresponding day on the calendar. There is a line for them total the number of minutes read and a line for parent signature. If they turn in the calendar with at least 500 minutes read, they earn their brag tag for that month.

At home reading is so critical and this is such a simple, fun way to encourage students to complete their at home reading.

If you are looking for additional Brag Tags, I have a resource in my TPT store (link below) that includes behavior and additional academic tags along with the monthly reading tags.

About Brag Tags
Brag Tags are a way to positively recognize students for just about any reason you could think of from behavior to academic accomplishments. I love them because the possibilities and variations are endless and can be adapted to meet any classroom's needs. Simply print the pages you need, laminate, cut, punch a hole in each tag and you have a classroom positive behavior system in place!

This year I plan to have a bulletin board display with each child’s name and this is where they will have their brag tag ring. Each student will be given a binder ring and when they earn a brag tag, they will add it to their ring. Every Friday, the students will attach their rings to their backpack zippers and take them home to show their families over the weekend. Alternatively, some teachers purchase necklaces (ball chain necklaces that can be bought at Hobby Lobby or online at places like Oriental Trading) and students can wear them on Fridays or on special occasions like assemblies. If you are short on wall space, I’ve seen teachers just have the rings always on the students’ backpacks.

For brag tag storage, I use the craft/jewelry organizers (mine is from Hobby Lobby for a couple of dollars) that have all the little compartments. In fact, I made these tags so they fit perfectly in them:) I will post pictures on my blog this fall of how I use the brag tags in my classroom.
