Need some ways to inspire and encourage struggling readers to practice reading during one-to-ones or small group reading time? Are your students bored with practicing flash cards or word lists? Struggling readers require repetitive attempts at reading sounds, words, and phrases. Try out these reading incentives to help keep your children’s attention focused on reading! This resource includes utilizing paper images and manipulatives to reward students for their work. After children read, they place a manipulative, candy, or they draw into shapes on the page. This resource includes cookies, hot cocoa mugs, and gumball machine pictures. These have worked well with my students and I hope they work well for you too!
